Depends on what you’re used to. If you’re used to quiet cars, it’ll definitely take some adjustment—hard or soft top. I used to make fun of the OEM tire noise on my 2022 Mazda3 and after getting the an NC PRHT…my Mazda3 now seems like a quiet hi tech spaceship.

The hard top will give you more interior reverb and can make the tire noise on the highway seem louder because it's more boomy, but the reduction in wind noise is a vast improvement (but that's also dependent on the windows making a good seal with the top, some will whistle noticeably - but the soft top can have the same problem - putting some rubber-safe grease on the rubber seals can help, i
The retractable fastback is a new take on the hardtop Miata theme. The last Miata with a solid roof became a full convertible at the push of a button, but the RF is essentially a targa: Press the Top down is more fun. Hard top (OEM) looks better. Im taking the “more fun” option AND saving $6k. Sounds like a win win to me lol. 5. Nerd-Vol. • 2 yr. ago. If the S2000 was my daily, I would want a hardtop. With the price difference between the soft top and RF, you could replace the soft top 1-3 times with the money you save (depending on how you would option a soft top). That would keep you with a good condition soft top with minimal maintenance for a long, long time. There are 1,357 used Mazda MX-5 Miata vehicles for sale near you, with an average cost of $23,361. Most of it comes down to weight. The 2016 MX-5 weighs 2,332 lbs, some 261 lbs lighter than the 2015 Grand Touring PRHT. But it’s more than that. Under the MX-5 Miata’s hood is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder SkyActiv engine that is, in essence, the same engine as last year. What Sucks that prices are going up, but in the US at least, they are becoming more and more scarce, as Spec miata guys keep crashing cars and tiktok hotboys are rattle-canning them left and right. It's supply vs. Demand. Prices for just things in general are going sky high now too. Even outside the world of cars. 6/25/09 11:13 p.m. Junkyard_Dog wrote: List the top for sale on CraigsList for $190 You'll get every Miata guy within three states at your door before you're done typing. This list shows how versatile convertibles are. You have a high-performing sports car in the Mazda MX-5 Miata RF and superb off-roading potential with the remaining three SUVs. The Bottomline. Hardtop convertibles feature a metal roof you can electronically retract to transform the car from a closed coupe to an open-top convertible.
Jun 9, 2023. #2. Welcome, it sounds like you are looking at the NC (3rd generation) for which the power hard top is referred to as a PRHT (power retractable hard top). There was a RHT (removable hard top) option for the soft top. The Miata RF, with its hardtop design, is at least a bit quieter than the regular soft-top Miata. The BRZ ultimately pulls ahead in this category by being a bit roomier. Taller drivers, in particular, will find the BRZ’s cabin to be less cramped than the Miata RF’s. You even get two dinky rear seats in the BRZ.
